This antique Italian Wedding chest is also called a cassone (cassoni). Traditionally, these date back to the Renaissance period, as late as 16th century with newer ones in the late 1800’s. Used as a decorative piece in the home, this was also for storage of the brides household linens and blankets
This piece was restored by Bill Carter (mainly the lid and interior hinges) but retains all the gorgeous carvings and lavishness of the original.
Beautifully made, this will be a statement piece that can be passed down for generations.
